Football players are divided by age and weight. 7 year old's wishing to play must have NYFL approval and sign a waiver. 9 year old's who are unable to make weight for Freshman Division can play in the JV Division under their weight limits, but must also sign a waiver and receive NYFL approval. 12 year old's are able to play as long as they are in the 6th grade and won't turn 13 on or before Dec. 1st of the current year. Those playing under "X-man" rules must only weigh in with Natural Weight (no pads) and are only allowed to be positioned on offensive or defensive line between the tackle positions.
Football teams will compete for a chance to make it to the post season. If they advance through the play-offs, they will compete for the NYFL Championship in the Super Bowl.

Football teams will practice 5 days a week for the first three weeks until the season starts. The schedule will then be modified to 3-4 days of practice, film review and game prep. Generally, practice will run from 6pm-8pm. Weather and game schedule could always play into the practice schedule.
