Coach Rachel comes to us as a Rebels Cheer Mom of 2 years. After her daughter aged out, we convinced her to join us an assistant coach to our Mascot team. This is Coach Rachels second year with the Mascots and first year head coaching.
She will be joined by a first year assistant coach, Angela Lieder, who is a Rebels Cheer and Team Mom of 3 years.
Shelby Perkins
"Coach Perkins"
This is Coach Perkins 3rd year coaching at the Freshman level; first year Head Coaching. Coach Perkins cheered for Rochester Schools in middle and some high school. You might have a hard time recognizing her within the group of cheerleaders as most of them are as tall as she is. She loves to be silly and have fun with the girls, but coaching comes first. "Team work makes the dream work".
Coach Perkins is also the Cheer GM and can be contacted for anything cheer related.
She will be joined by our previous Mascot Head Coach, Kelly Beard, as assistant coach this year.
Shelby Smith
This is Coach Shelby's 6th year coaching and has coached at the youth and middle school levels. Coach Shelby is super energetic and gives all she has into helping the squad compete at their fullest potential.
Coach Shelby is joined by her assistant coach, Courtney McDonald. Coach Courtney coached as the Mascot assistant coach, Mascot head coach and this will be her second year as the JV assistant coach.
This will be year 2 of Coach Shelby having an junior coach, Delyla. Delyla cheered with the Rebels for 2 years before aging out and loved us so much that she joined as a junior coach. We're hoping to one day have her as a Head Coach.
Mike Urbas
This is Coach Mike's 3rd year coaching at the Freshman level with the Rebels; first year Head Coaching. Mike played Football at Harper Woods Notre Dame H.S., class of 93' and is a Lieutenant with 28 years under his belt on the Detroit Fire Dept. He also coaches baseball with MTLL for the last 4 years.
Doug Patterson
Coach Patterson is entering his 3rd year as a Rebels Football Coach. While it is his first year Head Coaching for the Rebels, he has over 15 years of experience coaching youth and high school football. You might recognize him from Eisenhower High School games where he is currently the wide receivers coach. Fun fact: Eisenhower is his alma mater, where he also played football. He continued his football career at the University of Maryland as a wide receiver from 1997-2000. Coach Patterson and his wife have watched their two boys (12 & 9) grow in their time with the Rebels organization. He shares and instills the belief that if you work hard together, you will win together.. As a coach he strives for hard work and driving passion for the game of football.
